Great amusement and water parks, but our accommodation experience was disappointing.
We stayed at Duinrell for four nights in Comfort Duingalow D006. Overall, I would rate our stay around 2.5 out of 5 stars.
The amusement park was very good, with generally short queues, and our 10-year-old really enjoyed the rides. Some of the self-queuing systems were a little slow as there was no one directing people into the correct lines, but overall we had a good experience.
We also had two visits to the indoor Tiki Pool, which my family really enjoyed. The pool, changing areas, lockers and bathrooms were all clean. Unfortunately, I slipped on the stairs during my first visit and hurt my lower back and elbows. I didn’t report it at the time, but I was still sore two weeks later. Thankfully, the rest of my family really enjoyed the pool and had a good experience.
The main issue for me was the accommodation. Our Comfort Duingalow had its own parking space, which was very convenient, and during the day the setting was pleasant. However, at night we heard constant noises that sounded like mice or rats coming from the roof, sides and underneath the accommodation. I also saw what appeared to be mice and rats around the bins on two separate occasions. The noise kept us awake and really affected my enjoyment of the stay.
The nearby town is lovely, with plenty of restaurants and shops. The on-site shop was useful, although the central restaurants don’t open until 5 p.m., which was a little inconvenient during the day.
Overall, there were plenty of positives, especially the amusement park, Tiki Pool and nearby town. However, the issues with the accommodation meant I personally wouldn’t return.
